Desert-Tested's 2011 F150 5.0L XL!
Can you take a beat-up work truck and turn it into a capable, aggressive, and awesome off-road truck? The answer is yes, but it's definitely not as easy as you'd think. Meet Desert-Tested's 2011 F150 XL Work Truck Build! This old gal came from the oil fields of Houston with a stout 177,000 miles on the odometer, broken IWEs, and clogged catalytic converters, that were fixed up to get the truck back in fighting shape.
This truck now sits at 267,000 miles and is fitted with Hammerhead front and rear bumpers, Xtune headlights and taillights, and a bunch of KC Flex dual lights. However, this truck's secret weapons are its Nitro (RIP) 4.11 gears and an Eaton TrueTrac rear differential that makes it rip around off-road with ease.
That being said, this truck has seen a bit of abuse and neglect over the years, and its high-mileage is a huge hurdle. That being said, we here at Desert-Tested won't shy away from a challenge. Follow along as we get this truck back into fighting shape and add a bunch of new parts and components to make it work at its best.
